Arsenal: Arsene Wenger Facing Make Or Break Year
Wenger has one more chance to prove himself. If his Gunners fail to make a genuine title challenge again, will he still be the deserving manager of Arsenal?

Defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka, 23, has been welcomed to North London by Gooners and pundits worldwide (telegraph.co.uk). Xhaka’s arrival has been judged as a statement signing for Wenger and Arsenal, as Xhaka is expected to not only have a positive statistical impact for the Gunners in the 2016/17 season. He has also been tipped by many to have great leadership qualities about him and should purportedly only aid in giving the sometimes frivolous first team a real backbone.

And that’s not it.
For years, Arsene Wenger has been too stingy when it comes to bringing new talent to the Emirates. However, his shrewd Xhaka signing and recent, reported activity in the transfer market is a telling sign that ‘the Boss’ is changing his ways for the better. Wenger must finally be seeing that, in order to not lose ground in the EPL title race, he must keep up with other Premier League teams by bringing in significant and fresh talent as other clubs strengthen their squads.

Wenger has shown lately that he is willing to make strides to better the Arsenal side during the transfer window. But what he now must do is take advantage of the possible new-look Arsenal squad of next year by showing that he can produce results that lead to real EPL title challenges.
Given the Granit Xhaka signing and the headline transfers to come for Arsenal, the boss must prove that he can actually change things in North London on the pitch. If he fails to do so, I don’t see Wenger being awarded the chance to stay in North London for another year or two.

After all, if he can’t propel Arsenal to title-contending heights by May 2017 with an Arsenal team full of experience and even new starters, what says he will ever be able to? At the very least, Wenger will almost certainly be undeserving of his position as Arsenal manager.
