There have been significant reports linking Arsenal to both Jamie Vardy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Here are five reasons why Arsene Wenger should pursue the Leicester City forward in favor of Borussia Dortmund’s prized possession.

Arsenal want a new striker. That much is evidently clear by their recent transfer activity. It has been tough for Arsenal to find a top class forward ever since Robin Van Persie left for Manchester United and fired them to the Premier League trophy. Wenger has often boasted of his attacking options. However, much of these are talented midfielders or wide men. None could be an effective focal point of the team.

The best striker in the squad is Olivier Giroud, and while the Frenchman certainly has his positives, there are key areas of his game that hinder the team, and his detractors are quick to point to such shortcomings. The Arsenal forward is an outstanding hold up man. His touch is exquisite, the little flicks that lace his game are wonderful to watch, and he knits together Arsenal’s pretty passing wonderfully.

Nonetheless, he will never be considered world class until he scores more goals, an issue that has plagued Arsenal’s forwards for some time. Giroud is not lethal in front of goal like an Aguero, and he does not possess the pace to threaten in behind. Consequently, Arsenal’s play can become cramped without a midfielder bombing beyond the front man, stretching the play.

This is where two strikers who Arsenal have been heavily linked with excel. Both Jamie Vardy of Leicester City and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund boast outstanding speed. They are always on the shoulder of the defense, looking to stretch the play and get in behind. More than just electrifying pace, though, the two have outstanding goal scoring records.

Last season, Vardy scored 24 goals in 36 league games, while Aubameyang bettered that tally with 25 in only 29 league games. The two are similar players, and while many may point to the seasonal consistency of Aubameyang and conclude he is the better player, Arsenal look set to pursue Vardy instead. But is Arsene Wenger making the right decision?

Well, here are five reasons why Jamie Vardy would be a better signing than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?
