Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla has had his say on the future of the club and highlights teammate Jack Wilshere as someone who Arsene Wenger can build the team around.

Arsenal are club that are always looking to the future. It is one of the great things about the organization and it stems from Arsene Wenger’s long term vision and pragmatism in applying such a vision.

Apart of Wenger’s vision has always been the progression and development of young players. The epitome of such a philosophy is Jack Wilshere. A player who broke onto the scene five years ago with a truly sensational season playing alongside another once lauded youngster Cesc Fabregas, Wenger’s long term planning saw Wilshere as the centerpiece of an Arsenal team that would see great success.

It did not play out how Wenger planned. Injuries hit, replacements had to be found and Wilshere now finds himself struggling to forge a place in the starting eleven. The future is now looking somewhat bleak for the England international, though teammate Sanit Cazorla is more bullish about such prospects.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Speaking to Arsenal.com, Sanit Cazorla stated:

"“He is a spectacular player and I just hope he recovers from his injuries because I think he can be a really important player for both Arsenal and the English national team. Jack mixes English and Spanish skills. He has a powerful acceleration, a low center of gravity and he is left footed, which makes him a joy to watch.”"

These comments are exciting for any Arsenal fan. Wilshere has ingrained his name on the hearts of everyone involved with the club. His passion for Arsenal, his work rate and his sheer talent make him a true fan favorite and all are rooting for him to just stay fit. There is an exasperated sigh around the Emirates every time Wilshere goes down under a strong challenge.

It is the expectation that he’s going to get injured.

However, his pure talent, that he has shown in flashes over the past five years, means that Wenger has been patient with his development. It is Wenger’s long term vision that has seen Wilshere remain with the club when many other managers would have given up on him.

And now, it looks as though Wenger could be about to reap the benefits of his patience. Wilshere’s midfield partner Cazorla is clearly, and rightfully, a big fan of his talents. Cazorla prasies Wilshere’s low center of gravity, something that is central to the way he plays, stating that he believes he can still be the future of both Arsenal and England.

It is a bold claim from Cazorla, and although talent alone would seem to suggest that Cazorla may well be right, now at 25, Wilshere’s time is now or never, and if he cannot concur those pesky injuries, his career will never ignite.
