Arsenal: What Are You On About Neil Lennon?
Neil Lennon has, in some of the most absurd comments known to man, dismissed Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka’s quality, comparing him to Charlie Adam. What on earth is he on about?
Many football managers are intelligent, insightful and perceptive. They have an expert knowledge that many blokes down the pub cannot match and have an understanding of the game far surpasses the average fan.

However, ex-Celtic and Bolton boss Neil Lennon is now supporting the statement that some managers really do not have a clue what they are on about.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Lennon ridiculously stated that Xhaka has not been too impressive in his three group game performances for Switxerland in this year’s European Championships, and that he reminds him of Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam.
“I’ve not been that impressed. He [Xhaka] is alright. He reminds me of Charlie Adam” – Neil Lennon
The comments truly are outrageous, scandalous and just plain wrong. While I am not a huge fan of the Xhaka signing per say, I can still see the Swiss international’s quality. He is excellent on the ball, a good passer, has a great understanding of the game and is tough in the tackle. He truly is an all round midfielder with the physical talents to handle the Premier League.
Meanwhile, so called expert Neil Lennon is comparing him to Charlie Adam, a man who can’t run, can’t tackle and relies on a beauty of a left foot. It is outrageous that Lennon would draw such comparisons, and thankfully, Arsenal fans have jumped on him for such a stupid comment.

Xhaka is a far superior player to that of Adam, and actually, if anything, his Euro performances have cemented his quality rather than undermine it. After the first round of group games he had completed more passes than any other player in the tournament, he was then sensational in the second round, running the game for Switzerland, and on Sunday night he showed his defensive ability combating against players like Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba, ultimately helping his side to a crucial clean sheet.

While Neil Lennon may profess to be an all knowing football genius as a professional manager, the stats tell a different story. That story is that Xhaka has been a terrific player for Switzerland throughout the Euros so far, is a far superior player to Charlie Adam and will progress into yet another great Arsene Wenger signing.
