Arsenal: Just Give Javier Hernandez That Illusive Chance
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s search for a striker has not returned them to one of the most obvious candidates. Why not give Javier Hernandez the chance he never had?
Given that most transfer rumors are completely baseless and pulled out of thin air, it’s no great surprise that we have not returned to the link between Javier Hernandez and Arsenal. But now that I think about it, what better fit could there be?

No matter where he goes, Javier Hernandez scores. He said it himself when he went on his recent tirade about how Manchester United and Real Madrid never gave him a chance. His numbers at both locations were pretty stellar. Go figure that his numbers at Bayer Leverkusen were equally stellar.
That’s where Arsenal comes into the picture. The Mexican striker provides everything Arsenal could possibly need. He has speed to be the foil to Giroud’s strength. He knows how to get in behind defenses and, most importantly: he scores. Wherever he goes, the goals just flow.
And he has a point. No one has ever given him a chance to be a star. Sir Alex Ferguson wanted to but Chicharito was caught in the grey area between where Fergie ended and where the three stooges began. So he was ditched. Real Madrid never gave him a shot either.
Despite scoring goals, Hernandez was a regular in a negative environment where he knew he was not wanted and he did not understand why. That can negatively effect a players impact. At Bayer Leverkusen, for the first time in quite awhile, he was given that shot. Not surprisingly, he scored 17 goals in 25 starts.
What would be do for Arsenal though? That is what we all want to know. Well, we know he will feel wanted. He’s a striker that scores goals. That is what Arsenal nation has been clamoring for for years. That is all that’s needed. Score goals and keep the masses happy.

If Wenger is willing to spend on 29 year old Jamie Vardy, surely he wouldn’t mind spending about the same amount on 28 year old Chicharito. Especially given the fact that Hernandez has experience in the Premier League too and he wants to prove that he belongs on the biggest stage. He’s said if before. He’s in a very similar situation as Danny Welbeck only Chicharito has proven so much more in his time.
As far as links go, there isn’t much to go on, as mentioned. Literally the only link we have is Mohamed Elneny’s agent tweeting this:
Not exactly a firm base to stand on. But it has to be on Wenger’s mind, doesn’t it? A striker that seems so obvious a solution, that wants to come back to England, that scores frequently and offsets Giroud. What else are we looking for?
