Arsenal: Alexis Exit Rumors Getting Increasingly Farcical
By Josh Sippie
Alexis is not leaving Arsenal this summer but that doesn’t mean the rumor-mongers won’t try to convince us otherwise. Let’s focus on what we know…
Nothing makes me smile quite like a nice report that is chock full of horrible, nasty rumors but no quotes or evidence to back it up. It’s the token definition of stirring the pot. Only the pot is empty except for a few pieces of trash, a used paper towel and a molded slice of bread. Hard to make much out of that.

But boy will they try!
Alexis Sanchez, who once spoke about how much he loved living in London, now apparently hates it based on a random report that is taking off like wildfire. Its sole purpose is to inspire fear in the hearts of gullible Gunners around the world. I should show my sources, but I don’t want to link an article of mine to a baseless fact such as ‘Alexis tired of living in London’. Just google it if you have to, but don’t click on that garbage. Don’t worry, I read through them for you and all they say is that ‘sources indicate that Alexis is tired of living in London’.
Right, okay. I imagine ‘sources’ being like that episode of South Park where no one knows where the rumors are coming from and it turns out to be a rat. Yeah, something like that.
We have nothing to worry about with Alexis staying at Arsenal. Not yet at least. I have made this case so many times before but since it keeps coming up, I will make it again. Alexis is a man with a mission and his mission is not yet accomplished with Arsenal.
He came here to learn and grow under Arsene Wenger. Playing in La Liga and Serie A was a nice prequel to the main story, but nothing can replace the plot line of success in the Premier League. Nothing. And Alexis knows that. He’s been there, done that.
“I must keep on learning,” he said, back when he declared how much he loved living here. Why do you think he left Italy and Spain? Because he had learned all he could. He reached the top. He hasn’t here at Arsenal just yet and he is determined too.

Nothing is going to take the place of success in the hardest place to find it for a guy pushing himself to the absolute limits in order to insure that he becomes the best possible footballer he can be. Do we really think that he, in his wisdom, would see Juventus as a better opportunity to learn and grow then staying at Arsenal where he faces the best in the world twice a week? Nah, that’s crazy talk.
That being said, his stay isn’t permanent just yet. I do believe that Arsenal have one more year to prove something to Alexis (and Ozil, for that matter) before they seek their fortunes somewhere else. They both still see the vision that Arsene Wenger sees (and saw) but it will fade if they don’t find success this year.

Until that time comes though, don’t believe unfounded reports of unhappiness. Believe the man himself. And us. Yeah, that too.
