David Opsina has had his say on Alexis Sanchez’s Copa America, showing great solidarity in supporting the impressive performances of his Arsenal teammate.

A strong locker room is something that Arsene Wenger has prioritized throughout his tenure with Arsenal. He has been quick to reject recruiting a player simply because his character does not compliment what is already at the club.

Sometimes that has caused Arsenal issues; there is a clear lack of leadership in the squad with an air of disappointment if anyone criticizes a teammate. However, it also a great positive of the club, and being able to create a positive atmosphere in the locker room is crucial to winning trophies.

Such support has been on full display when David Ospina was asked about Alexis Sanchez’s performances at the Copa America. The Arsenal goalkeeper stated:

More from Pain in the Arsenal

"“He’s not just a great player, he’s an excellent person. He’s showing what he is made of at the Copa America with his movement, competitiveness and use of the ball. I’m happy for him.”"

These are fantastic comments for any Gooner to hear. Whenever a teammate is publicly stating his confidence and admiration for another, it always helps the dressing room. Arsenal’s players are a close knit group, they are good friends on and off the pitch, and the spirit of the team certainly carries through in to their performances.

Here, Ospina is particularly positive about Sanchez’s recent excursions with the Chile national side at the Copa America. These comments are particularly poignant when you consider that Chile just beat Colombia, Opsina’s home country, 2-0 in the semi-final to set up a much anticipated rematch with Argentina in the final.

It is extremely humble and wise for Ospina to see past the national disappointment and praise the quality of what was an opponent. It also shows the solidarity that Arsenal have.

Wenger has worked hard to create a positive, encouraging atmosphere around the Emirates, and it seems as though he has succeeded. Many of the players seem happy at the club, they work well with and for each other, and Ospina and Sanchez are just an example of such camaraderie.
