Arsenal’s star winger Alexis Sanchez is being heavily linked with a move to Juventus with the reports stating that he is wanting to leave the Emirates. The rumors offer a truly terrifying future.

In a Summer that is crucial for Arsenal in their quest to finally lift that pesky Premier League trophy, bringing in players of quality is absolutely essential. However, that need pales into insignificance when compared to the prospect of losing any of the few world class players that are still in the squad.

Arsenal can kiss goodbye to any hopes of success next year if they are unable to hold on to their star players. There have been musings this Summer that both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, the Gunners’ two best players, are becoming unsettled with the clubs continual underachieving.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Both have two years remaining on their contracts, Arsenal have tried to open contract extension talks and both have rebutted such advances. That is worrying.

Now, further reports are surfacing that Juventus are about to heavily pursue Sanchez with the Chilean receptive to a move to Italy. If you weren’t worried before, then you should be now. Whether these reports are wholly believable or not is uncertain. However, it cannot be denied that Sanchez was unhappy with the way Arsenal finished the season.

Sanchez publicly criticized Arsenal’s apparent lack of hunger after the devastating 1-0 loss to Swansea that all but ended any title hopes. Wenger was then forced to defend his side from their own teammate. That is never a sign of a harmonious dressing room.

The Chilean clearly feels, rightly, that he has the talent to win trophies. He is now questioning whether he can do that at Arsenal. That only leads to a truly terrifying future for the Gunners.

If Sanchez was to leave this Summer, Arsenal’s squad would require significant investment. Already, the team is in need of a center half and a center forward. Add in the cost of a replacement for Sanchez, suddenly, Wenger will have to undertake a £100 million spending spree to even give the team a fighting chance. I have more chance of being Sanchez’s replacement than Wenger splashing such lavish amounts of money.
