Gareth Bale has been praising his Wales teammate Aaron Ramsey, stating that the Arsenal midfielder is one of the best players he has played with. Bale is spot on with his comments, and Arsenal would be wise to try and get the best out of their star midfielder.

If there was ever doubt that Aaron Ramsey would not return to his 2013/14 form after a string of relatively serious injuries, then his performances in the recent European Championships should have dispelled them, as Ramsey was quite simply brilliant.

The incredible story of Wales often centered around Gareth Bale, with their Galactico often considered their one saving grace. However, the Euros proved that their squad was laced with quality throughout, not just on the shoulders of Bale.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

One player that was a particular star for Wales was Arsenal’s Ramsey. He was sensational throughout the whole tournament, scoring one, setting up another four and creating a whole host of chances in a role that allowed him to roam with little defensive duty to worry about.

Gareth Bale states that Aaron Ramsey is one of the best players he has played with:

"“We have spent many years as part of this set-up and Aaron is one of the best I have played with. He has so much ability and is one of the very best midfielders. He has relished the chance to play in a major tournament, and he has shown it.”"

Bale is absolutely spot on here. Ramsey is a truly great player, and now at 25, he is just entering the prime of his career. If, and admittedly it is a big if due to recent history, he can stay fit, then Ramsey could develop into the future of Arsenal’s midfield.

There are a few issues to overcome, the aforementioned injuries being the main one. However, finding a regular starting role is another. With Wenger’s obsession in technical, creative midfielders, he has often been forced to move Ramsey wide to accommodate such talent. That is absolutely where he should not be playing, as evidenced by his performances for Wales in a central role.

Arsenal have a very talented player on their hands in Aaron Ramsey, but how they use him, protect him and nurture him over the coming years will determine whether they get a player of the quality that Gareth Bale describes.
