Lyon’s President has confirmed that Arsenal have not yet made a bid for striker Alexandre Lacazette, and while some are criticizing the Gunners, patience is required from both fans and the club.

Big money, big name moves consist of many moving parts. They are intricate, detailed and difficult to complete and often, scheduled deals fall through due to what seems to be the smallest of issues.

Arsenal, a club who should, and do, target and pursue some of the biggest names in the world are often linked to these moves that require so many factors to fall their way. One player who has been mused with a move to the Emriates in recent weeks is Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, and it was becoming more and more expected that the deal would be completed.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

However, Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has since stated that Arsenal have not made a bid for Lacazette, while confirming a rejection of West Ham United’s £31 million bid:

"“I saw Arsene during France matches and he has not told me. I don’t think it’s something and it seems Alex wants to spend this season with Lyon in the new stadium. He wants to know an adventure in the Champions League could be much better than last season. I think he will stay with us and we are very happy.”"

This is a disappointing development somewhat. Arsenal are in need of a striker, and after their failed bid for Jamie Vardy before the European Championships, Arsene Wenger himself seemed to confirm the club’s interest in investing in a striker. Many had seen Lacazette as the perfect signing.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Wenger does not agree, or at least, that is how it looks at face value. Nonetheless, these types of moves are extremely complex, they take a lot of time, energy and effort to complete and signing Lacazette is not just as simple of scribbling a signature to a contract.

While it is frustrating that Arsenal have not yet made a bid for Lacazette, there is still just under two months of the transfer window remaining and plenty of time for Arsenal to complete the deal.

It certainly isn’t good news, but it should not be panic stations yet. Patience is required for now, though action will have to come soon if Arsenal supporters are not to become restless and agitated.
