Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud isn’t going anywhere, but that won’t stop the masses from buying into this ‘Giroud to Napoli’ garbage. Not a chance.

Arsenal media moguls know how to draw a crowd. Spout some bull droppings about Olivier Giroud leaving and everyone will buy into it. Well, guess what. None of it is true. Surprise!

Olivier Giroud’s agent never said that his client was going to leave Arsenal. He never said that he was going to Napoli. He never even said anything remotely close. All he said (and I’ll give you the full quote in a bit) is that if Arsenal told him to leave, then Giroud could be happy in Naples.

That’s it. Bam. Done. Finito. But it’s never that easy. It now has to be blown so far out of proportion that all the Giroud haters out there are going to start buying custom-made Giroud Napoli jersey’s just to spite the Frenchman. Before I forget, Here’s the full quote from his agent (via ESPN FC):

"“As of today, Giroud is an Arsenal forward. If they were to ask him to leave, then we’d evaluate the situation. There would be no fear for Olivier to go to Napoli, as we’re talking about a magnificent place. In Naples, my client could have a wonderful lifestyle, not to mention that Maurizio Sarri’s style of football would get the best out of a striker like him.”"

Arsenal will not sell Olivier Giroud, mainly because we will be lost without him. If you scowled or groaned in disagreement with that, then you are either Piers Morgan or an apostle of that foul man. Olivier Giroud is an absolute necessity for next season.

Granted, a move to Napoli is predicated on a move the other way involving the somehow-popular Gonzalo Higuain.

Here’s what I don’t get. How are so many people in support of dropping £80m on Gonzalo Higuain when Antoine Griezmann couldn’t cost much more? As my rant yesterday showed, there are few rumors in this world I have less tolerance for than Higuain rumors. There is nothing there!

Anyways, back to what I was saying about Giroud. Wishing him away shows such a degree of short-sightedness that I don’t know how someone could justify it. Already we are looking at starting the season with Chuba Akpom as the starter. That will be exciting. But we can’t expect that much out of the lad.

Olivier Giroud is a huge piece of this offense. There is no one I am more excited to see this year than the big man, especially after he did so much for France. The man was second on the team in assists last year as a striker and he doesn’t get credit for the goals he created just by being who he is and doing what he does. We saw it in the Euros and we will see it all season for Arsenal. But it probably won’t get noticed.

I want someone to explain to me how they think Higuain is worth Giroud and £40-50m. I have yet to hear a logical argument. I believe that is most likely because there is no good argument. Why take a step back and drop that much money when you could just spend that much money to keep Giroud and bring in Lacazette?
