Arsenal Would Be Paradise For Anthony Martial
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal are linked to Anthony Martial following Manchester United grossly disrespecting the young man. What a match it would be for the two.
Apparently the odds have been slashed for Arsenal to sign Anthony Martial. While I don’t encourage you to believe that it is at all more likely than it has ever been, we can definitely be assured that Martial is feeling a bit peeved at his club. Without consulting him or discussing with him at all, he had the No. 9 shirt that he earned stripped off his back and handed to the ‘god of Manchester’, Zlatan. Apparently the Swede ‘chose the No. 9‘.

Instead, Martial will be wearing the No. 11.
In retaliation, Martial unfollowed all of Manchester United’s social media accounts.
There is one glorious possibility that arises from this situation, albeit an unlikely one. Wenger was known to be interested in Martial, but United did their normal strategy and just dished out a ridiculous amount of money to secure the lad’s signature.
But with Mourinho, Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and who knows who else coming to town, Martial, as well as a host of other youngsters, have to be pondering their United existence. Is there really a place for them?
Martial has the best chance of all the rest because he proved himself last year. The 20 year old put in 11 EPL goals despite being moved around all season. It was a promising sign that told of things to come.
And then he had his number taken and his future prospects put up for grabs.

Arsenal would be paradise for Martial and vice versa. He is everything Arsenal could possibly want. The young man is hungry to improve, you can see it every time he takes the pitch. He’s almost frothing at the mouth to get forward and attack the goal. At 20 years old, there are few talents out there like him.
Plus, while his prospects at United are being blocked, Arsenal has a wide open door (two doors, actually) for him to step right into. We obviously need a striker and it’s no secret that Wenger has been eyeing up another wide option as well. Martial would provide both. He would be like a young, more consistent scoring Welbeck.
The only reason so many were against Wenger signing him last summer was because he was young, unproven and incredibly overpriced. No doubt he is still going to be overpriced, given that it’s Mourinho, but we know that he can score, we know he can play two positions that Wenger is shopping for and we know the potential is there to be unbelievable.
It’s still not likely that Arsenal signs him. I believe that United would have to pay a fee to Monaco, as part of the initial deal they signed, if they sold Martial. But If ever there was a lucrative deal that may cost an unfortunate amount of money, this was it.
Wenger doesn’t want to overload Arsenal with new signings, so adding a new striker and a new winger may look unappealing, and in a sense, it should. That’s a lot of new blood. But if that new striker and new winger is the same person, someone that proved so much in one year and someone that Wenger is already a known fan of, then why not fork out what’s asked for him?
The other problem is obviously convincing Jose Mourinho to sell him to Wenger. That’s probably the biggest hang up of all.

Like I said, don’t get your hopes up for this, but it sure would be an amazing coup and a fantastically astute move if it could come to pass. Plus, we have a No. 9 shirt to offer him. Unless Podolski is coming back for it.
