Arsenal Must Take Advantage Of Julian Draxler Unrest

As time is ticking, Arsenal are running out of options this summer. One player who is still available is Julian Draxler, and the Gunners would be wise to take advantage of the German’s unrest.

Finding talented attacking players is perhaps the hardest task of any top class manager. Players who can pick apart defences, score goals out of nothing, control the tempo of game while also being able to create moments of magic at crucial times in games are hard to find. They are few and far between and if such a possbility arises, then Arsenal should jump at it.

In Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal are lucky to have two players of this rare breed. Ozil is a master passer, a conductor of Arsenal’s play, the central cog in every move. Sanchez, on the other hand, is a more direct style player, willing to take opposition defenders at the risk of losing the ball and with the reward of a goal.

Arsenal are in need of another attacking talent, and there is a 22 year old German international who fits the bill perfectly. Julian Draxler is a player who possesses such ability, and in this last week, he has publicly stated of his desire to leave current club Wolfsburg:

"“I want to leave Wolfsburg. The coach knows for more than three weeks. Two days after the semi-final at the European Championships I told him how I see the whole situation and what I want – which is to leave the club.”"

A technically gifted player, Draxler is excellent on the ball, drifting inside from wide positions in a fluid Wolfsburg attack. He is an extremely intelligent player and exploits space in between the midfield and the defense to great success.

His club, however, have stated that he is not for sale this summer, so Arsenal certainly have a major hurdle to overcome:

"“VfL Wolfsburg will not be selling Julian Draxler during the course of the current transfer period. In joint discussions with Julian Draxler, VfL Wolfsburg again made it clear that they would not be granting the player’s wish to make a move.”"

Nonetheless, Draxler is clearly unsettled at Wolfsburg having gone public with his wishes to leave. Arsenal would be wise to take advantage of such unrest in the hope of bringing in another wonderfully talented forward thinking player.
