Arsenal: Mahrez Superior Option Than Isco Or Rodriguez
Arsenal are reportedly interested in recruiting Real Madrid cast offs James Rodriguez and Isco as their move for Riyad Mahrez stalls. While talented players, though, the two would be wasted recruits as Mahrez replacements.
Pace is an ingredient that the Arsenal attack has often been lacking. With Olivier Giroud often starting up front, Arsenal’s pace must come from wide areas. With Alexis Sanchez from left side, Arsene Wenger has an outstandingly quick and dangerous option. However, the right wing has been more troubling.

Such are Wenger’s troubles with the wide right position, that he has often had to settle for playing Aaron Ramsey in the role. While Ramsey is a willing runner beyond Giroud, he does not inject the electrifying pace needed.

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are two players capable of posing such problems, but their continual injury issues and lack of form have lead to many Arsenal fans calling for investment in a pacy, tricky right winger to replace the former Southampton stars
It had seemed as though may Wenger may answer the call with Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez. There have been significant reports linking the PFA Player of the Year with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer, but in recent days, these have quietened somewhat, leading many to feel that a move will not be completed.
Consequently, rumors have surfaced stating that Arsenal are set to turn to Real Madrid rejects James Rodriguez and Isco to solve their right wing issues. While such reports are rather unbelievable, any prospective move would not be beneficial for the club anyway.
While both James and Isco are vastly talented players, displaying wonderful technical prowess blended with a flair and creativity that has been honed while being a part of such a gifted squad, they are not out and out wingers. They would both prefer to play in a central role, would not offer enough width to an already narrowing Arsenal attack and lack that vital ingredient: electrifying pace.

Any deal is highly unlikely to go through. They would both cost astronomical amounts, and despite Wenger’s protests, Arsenal have clearly displayed an intention to avoid the massive payout. Nonetheless, even if a sensational deal for either player could be completed, it would be a wasted investment. Mahrez is a far superior option to both, but it looks as though that won’t happen either.
