Arsenal do not need more midfield help, but if that is what Wenger is in the market for, then Isco is a much better option than Mahrez or Draxler.

Arsenal’s transfer prospectus is beginning to look rather dim. No striker is suiting up in his shining armor and preparing to ride his stallion off into the sunset to face Liverpool. Nor is any bruising barbarian honing his ax to do battle in the defense.

In fact, the only kind of players that Arsenal are consistently linked to are the one type of players that they most certainly don’t need more of – creative midfielders.

With an overabundance as is, steady links are pouring in regarding potential moves for Riyad Mahrez, Julian Draxler and now James Rodriguez and Isco too.

While I do not see the need for yet another creative midfielder in the attack, the one boon I can see in this is in a situation where it becomes an embarrassment of riches. If Arsenal truly are not going to find another striker worthy of their emblem, then the least they can do is load up on so many chance creators that whoever is at striker is going to be drowning in workable balls that they just have to put on net.

Alexis and Ozil have one half covered, but the other half does not have a big time chance creator. Granted, the Ox, Campbell and even Walcott are making a strong claim for the role, the addition of a third stalwart chance creator could be a major impact, particularly if Alexis is moved to the front of the formation, as the Manchester City game hinted.

If this is the question that Arsenal are seeking to answer, then they must turn to Isco, not Mahrez or Draxler. Mahrez is a winger and Arsenal has far too many of those. He is a one-hit wonder as of right now and not worth the sizable investment it would take to land him.

Draxler too, is a winger type, although he has the added benefit of being a creative mind as well, picking out passes and assisting.

Though he does not do it in the same capacity as Isco, who has become a slick pass merchant.

Isco is nearing the point where he is ready to explode if he does not find consistent playing time and given Zinedine Zidane’s recent admission about having too many creative midfielders (we totally empathize), someone is going to make way.

The 24 year old Spaniard can give Arsenal goals and assists if given the chance he deserves. He passes without flaw and has averaged right at two created chances per game since joining Real Madrid. He is another pass-first kind of guy like Ozil who would fit in seamlessly.

Draxler is still young and his sudden want-away attitude at Wolfsburg has to raise red flags, whereas Isco only wants to go somewhere that will give him respect.

I don’t think that Arsenal needs another midfielder of this type, but if we are seriously talking about Draxler and Mahrez, then we might as well get Isco, who boasts a cheaper price tag as well as being the superior option.
