Arsenal’s arch-nemesis Jose Mourinho is back to jabbering his loose jowls off yet again. Let’s all revel in how fun it will be to pop his massive ego.

The abomination that Manchester United has become has me feeling all sorts of tangled. Any Arsenal supporter is always going to have those deep-seated hatreds for Tottenham and United in particular, but the hatred for United had turned into a bit of a joke lately, to mirror the team.

Still though, through all the hatred towards United back before their train wreck managerial carousel, there was always respect because of how Sir Alex Ferguson ran his team. It was very similar to what Arsenal does.

But now, with the mercenary troll Jose Mourinho at the helm, everything is different. The hatred has completely suffocated all respect as the stumpy little Portuguese man mouths off, always concerned with Wenger and what he has to say.

Given that Jurgen Klopp has now assumed the ‘hated but respected’ position at Liverpool, both he and Wenger were pretty clear about what they thought about Paul Pogba’s massive (only in terms of money) move to United. It all seemed rather silly. Well, to Jose Mourinho, those words meant shots fired. Or at least, they meant that he had to fire back. His words:

“When I heard some of the comments and heard some of the managers criticising [the move for Pogba], I don’t think they ever have this problem because, to have this problem, you need to be at one of the top clubs in the world. So at Man United it can happen.”

There are so many things wrong with Mourinho’s mindset, other than the obvious things like the simple fact that he is a conniving little troll. To refer to Arsenal and Liverpool as not top clubs shows how diluted his sense of reality is. These are the three biggest clubs in the biggest division in the world. Arsenal in particular has finished above Mourinho’s ‘new home’ for the past four years, so if Arsenal are not a ‘big club’ then where does that leave his new baby?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Part of the fun last year (for as long as Jose retained his job) was seeing him mouth off at Wenger, clearly on the back foot from failing at Chelsea. Desperation is a foul odor and it was permeating around Mourinho until he was sacked. And then it was all quiet and, to a certain extent, that was a shame. It’s always fun to see Jose squirm.

Now that he’s back, he is still far too concerned with what other people think, but then again, some things never change. So long as Mourinho is questioned, he will always feel the need to prove himself. That can breed good results for his team, but it can also lead to moments of pure desperation like he felt at Chelsea. It’s hard to have an ego such as his with an insatiable appetite and manage in the most difficult league in the world.

Whatever the case, it will be extra fun this year to see Mourinho squirm when his concoction of misfits misfires in the Premier League campaign.
