Arsenal: Signings Needed To Convince Ozil And Sanchez
Arsenal have not made any big name signings since Granit Xhaka back in June. The lack of investment is causing Ozil and Sanchez to stall on their contracts.
Arsenal have been able to recover from a period where they were unable to keep their best players. It was an annual event where the most talented player in the squad would be linked with a big-money move away and Arsenal would be unable to match the wages or the ambition of the competitors.

Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin Van Persie were all examples of this, but in the last two years, Arsenal have been able to turn the tables, assembling a talented squad without having to find replacements each and every summer. Such good news is set to continue with current star Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, per Arsene Wenger:

"“No. We keep that internal. We make progress always, but it is not always a quick process. They still have two years contract and there is no urgency as well. They (Arsenal fans) have no reason to be concerned. At the moment we have priorities, and most of the time contract extensions are done outside the win because it gives you a bit more time and focus on that.”"
However, such confidence seems wholly unfounded in comparison to the facts. Both Ozil and Sanchez have continually delayed their contract talks this year and with the lack of transfer activity, both seem to be a little unsettled at the Emirates.
Both were signed to the club under the influence of Wenger, buying into the ambition the club. Wenger clearly sold his plan to invest heavily, build a squad and challenge for the league titles and even European tournaments.
That has not materialised, and now, after another Summer in which signings have not come, Ozil and Sanchez must truly be doubting where Arsenal are heading. With only two years left on both of their contracts, Arsenal are suddenly on the back foot in the negotiations with each player in a position where they can delay til next summer and see what teams would be willing to acquire their services.

How Arsenal prevent such horrifying events from occurring is to deliver on the plan that was sold when both Ozil and Sanchez signed. To do that, Wenger desperately needs to show some ambition and intent with under three weeks remaining in the transfer window.
