Arsenal has managed to complete a transfer window for the first time. Actually complete it. In the process, they have revealed the stupidity behind Pogba.

Arsenal has everything they need. How does that feel to say? They have everything (sorry, I can’t stop saying it). We sat by on a relaxed deadline day and just watched. A new winger would have been nice, but it’s nothing to fret about.

This summer, Wenger didn’t even spend £100m but in the process he acquired a world class midfielder, a defender who could quickly prove to be world class, a 20 year old defender with Premier League quality and a striker that makes up for what he lacks in name value with hard work, goals and creativity.

That’s right, Wenger landed all of that for the same price that Mourinho United landed Paul Pogba.

For those of you that don’t follow my writings anywhere else, let me fill you in on something: I do not like Paul Pogba. Not one bit. The lad has an infinite amount of talent but he’s too arrogant to figure out the best way to use it. Did you see him play against Hull City? Six shots he fired, none troubled the keeper.

None troubled him either. He kept trying.

Jose Mourinho believes that the mark of a big club is spending money. So he spent. And continues to spend. I cannot think of a more stupid philosophy in all of football. If the mark of a big club is spending money than the mark of a smart club is knowing that you don’t need to spend money to be a big club.

What’s the point of football? It’s actually not a straightforward question. Obviously the end goal is to win things, but there are ulterior motives as well. Is it to entertain people? To bring in superstars? Or is it to build a lasting legacy so that supporters never have to worry where their club is headed?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

I like the latter. And it is the latter that has always been the calling card of Arsenal. Never relegated, always in contention. A few down eras but far more ‘up’ eras.

I know we don’t like when Wenger doesn’t spend and when he seems to be focused on the budget more than improving the team, but we have to look at this transfer window and admire that Wenger has managed to do both for the first time in awhile. He has stayed within a sensible budget while answering every pressing question the club had. Striker. Holding midfielder. Defender. All accounted for.

No other club had a more complete window.

Mourinho will tell you he did, but all he did was bring in a bunch of overpriced superstars and put together a collection of egomaniacs, blocking what previous managers had already been cultivating.

You know it’s bad when most United fans were griping about Pogba.

Ask anyone out there, they would prefer the four players that Wenger got to Paul “The Beacon” Pogba. And I think by the end of the year we will prove why, when Arsenal finish ahead of the ego-tripping Mancunians.
