Arsenal: Hector Bellerin Contract Surplus To Necessity
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal look set to re-up Hector Bellerin’s contract, which still has three years left on it. Isn’t this just confirming what we already know?
‘Tis the season for excessive contract talks. Arsenal are looking to lock up Alexis and Mesut Ozil to new long-term deals. Meanwhile, Laurent Koscielny is in need of a new deal and Santi Cazorla is confused why he isn’t be offered an extension himself.

Then there is Per Mertesacker, Aaron Ramsey and Yaya Sanogo (that’s a joke sandwich, the bread is fake, the meat is real) who all technically need new deals at some point in the near future as well.
Even Arsene Wenger is reaching the end of his contract and will be needing to decide his future in the coming months
Perhaps the only person that doesn’t need a deal at this point is Hector Bellerin. The young Spanish full back has three years on his remaining deal and has said over and over that he loves Arsenal and that he is here for life. Good times, right?

Well, not necessarily. Apparently Wenger’s folks are ready to offer Hector the Great a brand new deal that will tie him down for even longer. The report indicates that the Gunners have expressed their interest in beginning talks with the young Spaniard, even with so many other players still in need of new contracts.
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for locking up just about any Gunner at this point. This team is stacked and we need to start getting players to put their money where their mouth is (Ozil…) but Bellerin is one guy I have never doubted.
Time and time again he has come out and expressed his love for Arsenal and how he wants to stay here forever. Wenger gave him his first big shot and the young lad is exactly what anyone should be in the situation – grateful.
I just wish that we would lock up everyone else first. Nobody is taking Bellerin for us. Really, they aren’t. I’ve been saying that since day one. He’s just too dedicated to the Gunner cause.

At this point, why not just re-up the re-upping? Get him a decade long deal and let it be on the record that Bellerin will never leave so long as his feet can carry him. Just make it quick so that we can get back to the deals that are actually in question.
