Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi

As much as I’m advocating for massive squad rotations, I am actually incredibly excited about the prospect of having our unstoppable Kostafi anchoring a defense with Jenko and Gibbs. It’s the way things were meant to be not all that long ago.

Beyond the nostalgia, the two fullbacks have to be pulled into the swing of things sooner or later, and that can all take place against Ludogorets if Wenger sticks with his dynamic centerback pairing. Both of these guys should not be troubled by Lodogorets attack anymore than they were the first time.

I am also feeling a goal from one of these two off a set piece. With Giroud in the match, most set-piece attention rightfully goes to him, as he is the primary aerial threat. That will leave our two centerbacks with a better chance of nodding one past the Bulgarian’s keeper.

Keeping a clean sheet obviously isn’t a necessity, but you really can’t downplay how much this match will set the table for the North London Derby. No goals let in today, boys.

Let’s get to the base of this midfield, which is ripe with questions.
