Rob Holding and Gabriel Paulista

I friggin love this depth that the Gunner’s have at centerback. I wrote earlier today about the potential plot twist that Calum Chambers presents. How insane is it that Chambers would be about our sixth choice center back as is? Whereas as early as last year he was our third or fourth choice.

It’s exciting to see Rob Holding back out there because you just know he is going to be something special. He plays with incredibly composure for such a young man and I still believe that had we never signed Mustafi, we would have been just fine with Holding and Koscielny.

I’m not complaining though.

Meanwhile, Gabriel was a mammoth against Bournemouth in his spontaneous appearance. He was expected to have another sit on the bench, but, with Debuchy doing a Debuchy, the Brazilian was called on to make an emergency substitution and it couldn’t have gone better.

That was at right back. Gabriel is a center back and he will be happy to remind us of that come Wednesday against Southampton.

The further forward we get, the dicier things get in terms of who starts. So let’s get into the midfield pairing.
