Alex Iwobi and Lucas Perez

Man oh man, I have not been so hard on a player as I have been on Alex Iwobi in quite some time. I was downright disgusted with his fall from grace lately, mostly because Wenger keeps sending the kid out there. He clearly needs to take a step back, take a deep breath, and recenter himself on his strengths.

Playing a central role should help that. It is less focused on driving at the net and more focused on feeding the outlets. I have much more faith in the young Nigerian to do that than I have in him to score a goal.

Elsewhere, Lucas Perez is back! I really want to see this guy succeed, if for no other reason than because it will make Wenger look like a pure genius. But it’s obviously more than that.

I loved what Perez showed when he was at Deportivo. He was such a team player and a thinker at a position that didn’t usually boast such qualities. That is immensely promising. I just hope that he can start getting things figured out against Southampton because as I touched on earlier today, he really is running out of time.
