Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey

Here’s the deal… we only have so many options. It is so painfully obvious that there is a fissure between recovering the ball and moving the ball forward. There is a lack of reinforcements from the back. Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny are not meant to be partnered together. They have nothing to bring to the offensive side.

I love what Granit Xhaka brings and I love this newfound ability to make late runs into the box, but primarily, he is a sit back and maintain control midfielder who will spray the passing lanes from deep. That’s fine and that pairs very well with a Cazorla type that can push play forward.

But with no Cazorla, we have to invest in someone that can do something somewhat close to what is needed. And yes, Aaron Ramsey is the only midfielder we have capable of that. Unless Wenger wants to start experimenting with youngsters or the Ox or recall Wilshere, but I doubt he wants to do any of that.

Ramsey may take time but hey, look at that, we have time to give him. So let’s just do it and be done with it. We know what the Welshman can do.
