3. Cliff Bastin

Sharing the third place spot is Cliff Bastin, a man who won so many trophies for Arsenal that it’s almost silly. Of course, when you make 350 appearances, most of which came under Herbert Chapman during the glorious 1930s, you are bound to turn up with some impressive numbers.

Bastin won the FA Cup twice and the First Division five times, as well as scoring a whopping 178 goals in that time. It must also be noted that he didn’t always spend his time as the primary target man. Bastin had the man who came before him on this list to compete with and found plenty of time as a winger.

But that didn’t stop the goals, and they flowed in abundance.

Yet another career that was disrupted by the War, Bastin still managed to work his way into the top scoring spot with Arsenal, a record that held for nearly 60 years. It was finally broken in 1997 by the man who Bastin shares the No. 3 spot on this list with.
