3. Ian Wright

Ian Wright was like the seat warmer for the Invincibles. He had already had a really strong career at Crystal Palace before he made that crucial move to Arsenal for the then-record £2.5m fee. Needless to say, that price was well worth it.

Wrighty would go on to score 185 goals in 279 appearances to become the all-time leading scorer for the Gunners. The only shame of that being it didn’t last long. However, the fact that Wright’s legacy still stands so strong even in light of the man that was to come is testament to how superb of a striker he actually was.

Forming a masterful partnership with Dennis Bergkamp, Wright quickly solidified himself as one of the best strikers to play in the English game.

Even when Arsene Wenger arrived in 1996, Wright was still a huge scorer, despite being 33. He was the second-top scorer in that first season with 23 goals and would break Bastin’s record the following season.

As far as trophies, Wright has that covered as well. The eccentric Englishman brought home a League Title, two FA Cups, a League Cup and Arsenal’s only European championship, the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup. He also led the Premier League in scoring six different seasons.

No. 2 should be just as obvious as No. 1.
