Arsenal: Antoine Griezmann Can Be Alexis Sanchez Saviour
Alexis Sanchez is seemingly headed for an Emirates exit. Arsenal need a saviour and Antoine Griezmann is the perfect man to fill the void.
There is a growing sense of impending doom surrounding Arsenal football club. After the 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich all but ended their Champions League hopes, compounded by coming shortly after two successive losses to Watford and Chelsea which saw their faint Premier League chances also end.

As such, it is likely the season will once again end fruitless – the FA Cup, while it should not be devalued, does not constitute a successful season. Much of the season’s narrative has centred on the long-term futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Both had two years remaining on their current deals entering the year and had delayed talks regarding a new deal on numerous occasions. After the loss to Bayern, with Sanchez’s late-game antics, it is looking more and more likely that come the summer, Arsenal will be forced into selling their star striker.
If that is the case, then a replacement must be found. While the squad is stronger, at least on paper, than it has been for a long long time, there are still not the calibre of replacements to deal with the departure of Sanchez without investing in the transfer market. Consequently, someone must be brought in. But who?
Well, there are few options better than Antoine Griezmann. The Atletico Madrid attacker has been in sensational form once again this season, scoring nine goals and assisting a further four in 21 La Liga games. This comes off the back of two successive 22 goal La Liga years for Diego Simeone’s side and a glittering European Championships where he lit the summer tournament up with a wonderful blend of pace, precision and ruthless finishing.
There have been significant reports linking the Frenchman with a move to Manchester United, adding to the assembly line of blockbuster signings at Old Trafford. Nonetheless, Wenger is publicly a fan of his talents and has been rumoured to be interested in acquiring his services for himself.
