Arsenal: Alexis Sachez Sevilla Rumours Insulting
Alexis Sanchez is reportedly wanting to join Sevilla in the summer. While an Arsenal exit is likely, Sevilla being his destination would be insulting.
The departure of stars is a miserable, down-heartening event that the Arsenal faithful have had to live with for many years. Ever since the move to the Emirates was on the horizon, the financial restrictions that have been placed on the club have limited their ability to match the ambition and the wage demands of the biggest names.

The first to leave was Patrick Vieira, searching for European triumph. Then Thierry Henry saw pastures green at Barcelona, opting for the established Spanish giants as Arsene Wenger admitted that he would not be able to replenish his squad with experienced stars, and must rather look to talented, but unproven youngsters.

Since then, the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie have all left in blockbuster moves, some more harmonious than others. Although Wenger’s wallet has grown slightly in recent years, and the calibre of player he has been able to recruit has risen, there is still a growing doubt surrounding the ambition of him and the club.
It is these doubts that, like the lack of finance before them, are driving many of the key first team contributors to look elsewhere. Perhaps the most high-profile names in search of an exit are Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. Signed in consecutive summer transfer windows, both have a little over a year remaining on their current deals and have delayed talks on numerous occasions.
As time passes, the likelihood of a departure only increases, and for the latter, rumours are beginning to circle about possible destinations. The latest team to surface is Spanish club Sevilla, who are enjoying an unlikely season in which they sit third in La Liga, just three points off league-leaders Real Madrid, all under the guidance of Jorge Sampaoli, the man who managed Sanchez at international level.
While Sanchez is clearly an admirer of Sampaoli’s management style and would evidently like to work under him again, to suggest that Sevilla are a possible landing spot is insulting to Arsenal football club. Although the Gunners are no longer one of the elite European clubs, they are still a more established, successful organisation than Sevilla.

Much of the rumour surrounding Sanchez’s impending sale has centred on the club’s inability to match his ambition. If he were to join Sevilla, that would show less ambition that simply staying in North London. It is difficult to blame Sanchez for wanting to leave. But that does not mean that every single possibility is a better option than Arsenal.
