Arsenal: Massimiliano Allegri Brings New Twist To Transfer Rumors
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal has gone through saga after saga of transfer rumors in recent years, but they are taking on a brand new twist with Massimiliano Allegri.
Arsenal’s history in the transfer window is one of infinite links and rare follow-through. These past couple years have been different, but there are still those links out there that pop up that we just know are never going to happen.

It all stems from a stingy board and a manager who has very specific wants and needs. Arsene Wenger only ever wants “the perfect signing,” as he so often says. Which makes us wonder if this team he has put together is “perfect”.
Either way, these endless transfer rumors have taken on a brand new spin with Massimiliano Allegri coming into the picture. And by brand new spin, I mean now we have to monitor a whole new level of rumors – the managerial level.
Today the rumor came out that Allegri had verbally agreed to take over for Arsene Wenger this summer. This was always the wordage I most despised. There is nothing in a “verbal agreement”. If Arsenal had a team composed of everyone they had ever made a verbal agreement with, they’d be looking like a mash-up of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Which adds this new level of stress to the transfer market – just what we needed!

After seeing Wenger’s “tactics” against Liverpool, it’s so obvious that time has left him behind. There is no way to defend him. And the people that tried, prior to the match, were soon proven wrong when Alexis was sent on and things changed.
So often these transfer rumors involving world class athletes are seen as game changers. They look to be the signing that changes everything. And while they rarely happen, the few that have – Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Petr Cech, Granit Xhaka – prove to be helpful, but not game changers.
That is another twist that Allegri brings to this transfer rumor game. Allegri is a game changer. He would be the signing that would breathe life into this dying club.
So now we sit by and wait. We wait to see if Wenger will sign that contract and we wait to see what Allegri does. And unlike when we are waiting to see what someone like Alexandre Lacazette does, this waiting really does mean everything to the future of the club, as well as some of the players within.
