Arsenal: Ian Wright Only Validates Alexis Sanchez’s Groans
Ian Wright has stated that he too would want to leave Arsenal if he was Alexis Sanchez, validating the Chilean’s unsettled behaviour.
Arsenal are in a mess. That much has become evidently clear in recent weeks after a series of insipid displays that has seen them all but exit the Champions League, their Premier League hopes falter badly and now their chances of a top-four position come the end of the season diminish.

Their poor form culminated in a desperate Arsene Wenger dropping Alexis Sanchez for Saturday’s crucial match against Liverpool. The decision backfired. Badly. It has since been revealed that Sanchez and some of his teammates had a training ground bust-up and Wenger saw it fit to drop him as a result.

Whether that is true remains to be seen. However, what the commotion does point to is an impending Sanchez departure. A possible exit has been discussed all season long thanks to delaying contract talks on numerous occasions throughout the year. And now those discussions are coming to a climax. The latest pundit to support Sanchez’s apparent intent to depart is Ian Wright. Speaking on Radio 5 Live, the former Arsenal star stated:
"“I’m not sure if money is going to keep him there at the moment. If I was him, I’d probably want to leave as well because what’s happening with Arsenal right now is not what he came to Arsenal for, especially not being in the top four. Everything points towards that he’s unsettled, he’s unhappy and it seems to me like he wants to go.”"
Wright’s comments only validate the departing sentiment of Sanchez. It is certainly difficult to blame him for wanting to leave and, like Wright, if I was in his situation, I would also be pining for pastures new. Ultimately, it comes down to a lack of ambition from the club that has failed to match Sanchez’s desperation to win.
Sanchez’s winning mentality is on full display throughout his performances. He wears his heart well and truly on his sleeve. And when his teammates are unable to match the standards that he expects of them, then trouble ensues.

For a player of his quality, matched by only his desire to win, it is no surprise to see that he is wanting away. Wright’s comments only go to validate Sanchez’s wantaway wishes.
