Arsenal hosted Bayern Munich in the reverse leg of their last 16 Champions League tie. Here are the complete player ratings from the 5-1 loss.

In another night of catastrophic proportions, Arsene Wenger watched his side succumb to Bayern Munich thanks to yet another second half slump after Laurent Koscielny had departed. There were positives to be drawn from a first half in which Arsenal were brave, pressing the Germans at the right times and creating chances. But ultimately this was yet another disappointing European night for the North London club.

Here are the player ratings from the 5-1 loss.

5.0. Couldn’t do anything for any goal whatsoever in terms of saving shots. Actually made a few good saves in the second half, though did give the ball away for Robben’s goal.. GK. Arsenal. DAVID OSPINA

Played very well in the first-half bombing up and down the right-hand side but tailed off late in the game like many of his teammates. Difficult to apportion the blame given the lack of intensity of the whole game.. DEF. Arsenal. HECTOR BELLERIN. 6.0

SHKODRAN MUSTAFI. 4.5. Played very well in the first half, showing brilliant distribution. But when Koscielny went off, once again looked lost. Is in need of the Frenchman alongside him.. DEF. Arsenal FC

Was equally adept as his partner in the first-half. Was caught out for the penalty but in no way should that have been a red card. Terrible decision that killed the game.. DEF. Arsenal FC. LAURENT KOSCIELNY. 5.0

4.5. Handled Arjen Robben well for the most part but waned later in the game. Had little help from Alexis Sanchez in front of him but will still need to be replaced in the summer.. DEF. Arsenal FC. NACHO MONREAL

6.5. Was excellent in the first half as the deepest-lying central midfielder. Is far more suited to that position than alongside Coquelin like against Liverpool. Struggled positinally when he sat in at centre-half, but can hardly be blamed for that.. MID. Arsenal FC. GRANIT XHAKA

AARON RAMSEY. 4.0. Tried a lot in the final third but did give the ball away far too often. Looed a little short of match fitness, which is to be expected, but alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain, does make a dynamic, surging midfield partnership.. MID. Arsenal FC

7.5. MAN OF THE MATCH: Drove forward with pace and purpose throughout the 90 minutes. Was visibly frustrated late in the game but is establishing himself as a central midfielder for the future.. MID. Arsenal FC. ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN

MID. Arsenal. ALEXIS SANCHEZ. 4.0. Looked completely off the pace throughout the 90 minutes. Was not diligent in his defensive duties and failed to create much in the final. Still the Gunners’ best player but will likely leave this summer.

Arsenal. THEO WALCOTT. 7.0. Was dangerous throughout the first half, causing David Alaba all sorts of issues with his pace and directness. Scored a brilliant goal and continues to link up well with Hector Bellerin. Underrated still by many sections of the fanbase.. MID

Arsenal FC. OLIVIER GIROUD. 4.0. Off night for the Frenchman missing a couple of good headed chances. Would have been better for Danny Welbeck to start in this particular fixture but Giroud does have his uses nonetheless.. ST
