Arsenal, as well as the rest of the world, seemed to have been turned away with a “not for sale” sign on Kylian Mbappe. Still… the lad is for sale.

Arsenal nation should be used to Arsene Wenger coming out and saying he almost signed someone. The massive list of super stars that Wenger “could have signed” could be the greatest collection of players to ever touch a pitch together. Of course, they never will.

Kylian Mbappe is in danger of joining that list. The prolific young Frenchman, who is breaking Thierry Henry’s records left and right, was a missed chance for the Gunners this past summer and, this upcoming summer, they are naturally linked with him again.

Of course, that means that Monaco have to come out and have their say.

Sitting in the top spot of Ligue 1 (as of writing) with a massive goal differential, Monaco may favor their chances of making a dent on the UEFA Champions League and, as such, Vice-President Vasim Vasilyev had to come out and say that the club intends to hold onto their young superstar.

“Our intention is to keep Kylian Mbappe. [He] is a product of our youth academy. He is our DNA. I am very proud. We have a real team. The first half was excellent – the sort of performance that the very top teams make,” he said, via RTL.

Seems pretty simple then, he’s just not for sale.

But we know that isn’t the case. Everyone in the world can be bought for the right price. Remember what Monaco told Wenger about Anthony Martial?

“He was one of the players Monaco did not want to sell,” Wenger said, as to why he didn’t make an approach after Martial.

Yet Manchester United bought him. It may have cost a stupid amount of money, but that investment has a long time to pay itself off and it is already getting there.

So Arsenal may have to offer a stupid amount of money to secure Mbappe. There is no shame in that. It’s part of the modern game. And if it gets you someone like Mbappe, with the world at his feet and “as much talent as Henry” then what price is too much?

Not only that, but in order to be the next Thiery Henry, wouldn’t he therefore have to make the switch to Arsenal at some point anyway? Best to get it out of the way.
