Arsenal need a fresh new direction and Kylian Mbappe may be the answer to that. But his price tag is astronomical. Is any price too high for the wonderkid?

Arsenal has gone full-on stale. Like that loaf of bread that is a week past it’s expiration date and the first signs of mold are starting to show up. It’s about time to just toss out that bread and start over from scratch, maybe making sure to have more than one loaf to pull from in the future.

Enough of the bread analogy. Kylian Mbappe is a fantastic way to rejuvenate the team (with fresh bread) in a new direction with a goal hungry machine that can be the brand new centerpiece. He has absolutely taken over the world spotlight and proven to be the next big deal.

Arsene Wenger missed out on him last summer. Which would have been the ideal time to sign him, as his value has since quadrupled, but seeing as how we don’t have the capabilities to go backwards in time (damn science) all we can do is look forward.

According to reports, and mind you, reports are not the law, Kylian Mbappe’s price tag may get into the triple digits. That’s an intimidating figure that shouldn’t inspire Gooner’s with a lot of confidence. Not given the past penny-pinching antics of Arsene Wenger.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Not to mention the fact that Mbappe is locked in at Monaco until 2019 and his talent level alone is going to bring the entire known world after him.

So that’s where we are at. With the actual next Thierry Henry sitting at Monaco, making the world his stage, and a massive price tag attached to him.

What it comes down to though, is that no price is too much for young Mbappe. This kid could provide a decade’s worth of striking stability to go along with Donyell Malen, who is at Arsenal already and making inroads with the Dutch national team.

Striking has been such a bugaboo with Arsenal over the past half decade since Robin van Persie left. While Olivier Giroud is a solid, reliable contributor, he can’t do it alone and Wenger’s inability to find proper support has cost Giroud the best years of his footballing career.

Avoiding that in the future is priceless. Plus, if you need a dose of inspiration, remember what Wenger said last summer: “If we find the right candidates we will spend big money.”

Well, Mbappe is absolutely the right candidate and he will cost big money. So let’s make it happen.
