Arsenal vs Manchester City: Mesut Ozil Should Be Begging To Start
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal has a rather massive match coming up against Manchester City and all eyes will be on Mesut Ozil as he makes his return.
Arsenal’s list of problems is ripe with controversy and second-guessing, but most of that is centered on the two superstars, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. As their contract sagas drag on and the rumors heat up, everyone wants to know how effective they will be, as well as the obvious – are they staying?

Manchester City is another tough test for a crashing and burning Gunner’s side that has an empty chest cavity where they should have a heart. There has just been so little fight over these past few games, the worst stretch of Arsenal football in recent memory.
The German maestro is right in the middle of all of it. After missing out due to a hamstring injury, he is making his return to a team that has figured out a way to be more effective without him. The pass master has lashed out at being “singled out” by supporters, but in the end, all he has to do to get it to stop is show up. And if it’s against a big team like City, then even better.
There is no headline more intriguing than this one. Ozil should be starting. There is no excuse for him not to be begging Arsene Wenger to start, because he has the world to prove to a fan base that he cares about in a city that he loves.

Seems like a flawless formula, but Ozil himself has admitted that he isn’t the type of player to track after a lost ball. He is a passer, a creative mind, and nothing more. Boxing himself up like that is not a good start towards getting back on the right track.
But if there is one thing he is good at, then that one thing needs to be indestructible. And thus far into his Arsenal career, it hasn’t been. No superstar should be shut down when one aspect of his game goes quiet.
Again, the stage is set. Everyone is watching. Ozil should have a huge chip on his shoulder to leave the naysayers behind him. I am eager to be proven wrong, and the only thing that can provide that is a good old fashion take over by Mesut Ozil.
