Arsenal are being linked with a move for Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman. The electric winger would be a sensational signing but he may be unattainable.

Arsenal are beginning their quest to haul their way back into the top four positions in the Premier League. The win against West Ham United saw them rise to within four points of Manchester City with a game in hand and now place themselves in the perfect position to make a run during the remainder of the year.

It is imperative that they are able to continue Arsene Wenger’s unblemished qualification record in the Champions League for a number of reasons. Firstly, it offers an element of clout and reputation that a club the size of Arsenal requires. It is also a sign of consistent success by continually challenging with Europe’s elite. But it also offers a selling point in the transfer window.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

And that is especially significant given the importance of the summer for the club. With uncertainty abounding over the future of Wenger, the infrastructure of the club and the playing prospects of many members of the squad, including Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the two most influential players available to Wenger, change is set to take place in North London.

The state and the success of that change will depend greatly on the quality of player that the club is able to bring in. Revolution is coming and, if recent reports are to be believed, it could well be positive. The latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman, and it is an exciting prospect indeed.

However, while Coman is an excellent player, one that would signal a major shift in the calibre of player that Arsenal are able to attract and acquire, he is also an unattainable target. Carlo Ancelotti has already stated that he expects Coman to stay at Bayern after his loan deal ends and the German club have a £18 million clause in his contract that, if they choose to exercise, will mean no other club with come close to signing him.

Moreover, even if Bayern do not extend his stay, he will return to Juventus and will be the subject of interest from a whole host of clubs, including London rivals Chelsea who have been heavily linked with a move for the winger as a replacement for Eden Hazard.
