Arsenal: Marseille Can Bugger Off Of Olivier Giroud
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal has come a long way with Olivier Giroud, so Marseille can take their interest, stuff it in a sack, and incinerate it. The big man stays.
Arsenal supporters spend most of their time fighting off rumors tying Alexis Sanchez PSG, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and the handfuls of other clubs that are in on the ambitious Chilean. But Olivier Giroud has a rather annoying rumor fly buzzing around his ears as well and it’s about time we tell Marseille to bugger off as well.

According to resurgent reports, Marseille have not given up on their desire to land Olivier Giroud from Arsenal. After scoring Dimitri Payet in January, they are looking to bolster their ranks in an attempt to pull up to Monaco and PSG’s level and props to them, they found a solid candidate.
Giroud was Ligue 1’s top scorer before he came over to England and he has only improved since then. Meaning that Marseille are, rather wisely, pursuing someone who can absolutely make a difference. After relying heavily on Andre-Pierre Gignac before having to let him go do to disciplinary problems, Giroud would be a massive upgrade.
The Frenchman is the top aerial striker in England and while he is part of a dying breed, he absolutely has a knack for a score of other skills that he rarely gets credit for. One of which was on display against Payet’s former prison, West Ham.

Giroud may have fallen to the bench yet again for the Gunners, but it’s hard to blame him. He remains (as of writing) the only man in England to average better than a goal every 90 minutes, as he scored every 88.1 minutes. And that was before he scored again at midweek.
The Frenchman has quietly become one of the most efficient strikers in all of Europe this campaign, and it’s gotten to the point where he is strictly on the bench because he is just so damn good coming on late in the game.
Marseille may see this as an opening, but Giroud has admirably gone all in with Arsenal, re-upping on his deal in the midst of all this turmoil and committing himself to the club for what would figure to be the rest of his best days.

A title remains illusive, but Giroud absolutely deserves to lift a major trophy from all that he has had to go through at the Emirates. And for that, I say again, Marseille, you can bugger off.
