Arsenal’s pride and joy Alexis Sanchez was understandably downtrodden after the Crystal Palace match. What does this mean? Absolutely nothing.

Arsenal are going to have a lot to answer for this summer and that is still a couple months away. Until then, we are going to be subjected to endless rumors, accusations and all the other fun things that accompany a downward spiral.

Arsene Wenger‘s future is going to be right at the middle of it all, as will Mesut Ozil’s debatable usage with the Gunners but the bigger story is Alexis Sanchez.

And damn, are the tabloids milking it or what?

The one thing I have always appreciated about Arsenal is that, barring anything drastic, rarely do we ever have any lead on what a player is thinking. They don’t go to the press with these things because it would be a circus. Even more of a circus than the rumors are already making it.

Case and point – Prior to the West Ham match, all of the headlines were the same. They all had to do with Alexis leaving because he was unhappy about the lack of hunger on the club. Makes sense.

Arsenal then beat West Ham convincingly. Did you notice what happened to the headlines? They all turned around. “Alexis willing to give Arsenal one more chance.”

More from Pain in the Arsenal

One loss later, and it’s being reported as a fact yet again that the Gunners are going to be losing Alexis. As if Alexis changes his mind each and every time there is a new result on the board. Doesn’t make much sense, does it?

The only thing we know is that Alexis has admitted that he is happy in London and wants to be on a club that is winning trophies in London. That is pretty vague if you want to dig into it, but it’s also not. He has always said he loves this club and that he wants to win here. That is what he is saying again, just less specifically.

Other than that one brief piece of evidence, no one has any clue what Alexis wants or what he is thinking or where he is headed. If anything, the pendulum is in favor of him staying. Wenger admitted that they were just working out a deal with his agent.

All of this other noise coming from all of these tabloids – it is unfounded. There is no hardcore proof of anything. What is a bust-up? Is that when Alexis gets frustrated at his team mates for not showing hunger? Everyone has those. Alexis more than most, because he is so incredibly hungry, but they aren’t a sign of anyone leaving.

Don’t buy into the chatter. Everything that we know for sure is positive, and that is a fact.
