Arsenal’s rocky relationship with Alexis Sanchez is still highly questionable, but if you are in the market of speculation, then PSG have some good news.

Arsenal’s season is sinking incredibly quickly and for some players, that just isn’t okay. Not everyone is here for Arsene Wenger, nor is everyone here to wait years on years to finally compete. It’s clear that changes need to come and they need to come now (or yesterday).

Alexis Sanchez is one such player who is not here to do anyone any favors. He wants to win and his antics on the pitch show how utterly ticked he is when the team can’t match his level of hunger and desire for trophies.

As such, the sharks have been swarming, both at home and abroad. Both Mancunian clubs have been tied to the Chilean, as too have Chelsea. Across the channel, PSG and Juventus have lead the charge with Atletico Madrid also in the race.

That is a ton of inquiries to fight off and a lot to dread, but PSG might well have given us an indication that despite all the rumors and hints, Alexis may be wanting to stay.

The report comes from ESPNFC, who claim that “sources” have indicated that the Parisian giants might be eyeing up Lucas Perez as an alternative to Alexis Sanchez.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Which could mean one of two things. Either PSG recognize that they aren’t going to win the race for Alexis, or that Alexis never even asked for a race.

Both angles have their merit. Alexis did say he wanted to play in London for a winning team. Paris isn’t London, so maybe the Ligue 1 powerhouses backed off for that reason.

Let’s look at it optimistically though. For awhile, it looked like PSG was the favorite to win the race. They were the heaviest in the links and we know that they are not afraid to spend whatever is necessary to win over whoever they want.

If they are looking at Arsenal for alternatives in the event that they miss out on Alexis, especially this far from the transfer window, it has to be taken as a good sign. Now maybe we are reading too much into this, but there is a glimpse of hope here that Alexis has made his intentions clear. You have to imagine that if he was resigned to move, we would be hearing about it.

So let’s be hopeful that this little glimmer of rumor has some good news in it. Even if it means losing Lucas, it’s not like he was being utilized to his full capacity anyway.
