Arsenal Breaking News! Granit Xhaka is still the answer
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s resurgent win against Manchester United was so convincing that the haters are acknowledging Granit Xhaka. Join the already-made club.
Arsenal quite a fun day at home against Manchester United, and most of the power came from the midfield two of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey. Two of the most criticized Gunners, there was still some criticism floating around, but nothing towards the Swiss.
In fact, it was such a good performance, that people are finally dropping their torches and pitchforks and recognizing what the Gunners have here. That’s right, people are saying that he “may be the solution to the Gunner’s midfield nightmare” after all.
I’m not often in the business of tooting my own horn, per say. But when it’s something like this, I have no choice. All damn year I have been saying “withhold your judgment of him, the Premier League is tough for a player like him to come to. And besides, he’s actually doing quite well.” No really, check it out here. Or here. Or here. Or more.
Patience is especially necessary in the modern day. It’s a fast game, a physical game. And Xhaka is all about slowing the game down, establishing control and handling that physicality. You don’t just leap into the Premier League with that skill set and have an immediate, game-changing impact. You first have to learn the speed of the game, acclimate to it, and the same goes with physicality. It’s a completely different world in England.
Xhaka is getting the feel for it now and people are acting like it’s some great surprise. Like they never expected him to be here. That’s just foolishness. Xhaka has been an up and coming talent for years. He has been an international difference maker for years. Arsene Wenger sought him out for a year because he knew exactly what he wanted and what the team needed.

And that wasn’t convincing enough for you all? People were calling for him to be sold, calling him a flop, calling him a waste of money. After half a season.
I understand the impatience that Gooner’s feel. I feel it too. But in situations like this, it’s inexcusable. Here is a big time, big talent signing that was brought here to do a specific task and now he is doing it. It’s that simple. The panic that bridged the summer and now was completely blown out of proportion.
Although, to be fair, Arsene Wenger is somewhat responsible for citing Xhaka as three different types of midfielders on three separate instances. It made Gooners a bit confused as to what exactly the Swiss was.

History should have shown us, though, what Xhaka was bringing to the club. Not the Patrick Vieira type or the Gilberto Silva type. But the type like we haven’t had. The slow, controlling, calculating type. Now we see it, so hopefully everyone can just chill out and appreciate him.
