Arsenal: Thomas Tuchel exit met with blank stares and shrugs
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal will certainly be needing a new manager soon, if not now, but despite the impending exit of Thomas Tuchel, there is no stirring at the Emirates.
Ever since this season turned south, there have been four names linked with taking over for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal and all four names were exciting and new and fresh and all manner of positive adjectives.
There is Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid firecracker, Massimiliano Allegri, the miracle man from Juventus, Leonardo Jardim, Kylian Mbappe’s keeper at Monaco and, lastly, Thomas Tuchel.
Tuchel inherited a quickly staling Borussia Dortmund from the eccentric Jurgen Klopp upon the latter’s move to Liverpool and has since proven himself to be one of the most promising young managers in the world. He may be a little odd, but he has righted the ship at Borussia Dortmund, smoothed the transition from long-time manager Klopp, and kept hold of Dortmund’s vast array of stars.
However, communications issues and internal rifts have caused a bit of an irreparable situation with Tuchel and the German club. It all came out from behind whatever curtain they were hiding the tension behind with the horrific bomb attack on the Dortmund bus. UEFA forced Dortmund to play the very next day, which Tuchel was simply incensed about.

Club Chief Executive Hans-Joachim Watzke’s statements did not match Tuchel’s a rift developed, adding to the collection already adding up.
All of this led to the nearly unanimous understanding that Tuchel would not be continuing at the club past this year. Which of course hit the Arsenal news waves and was met with nothing more than silence, blank stars, and possibly a few shrugs.
Arsene Wenger is simply not ready to go. And until he is ready to go, nothing in the footballing world considering the movement of managers matters. Not one bit. We have seen managers with bigger names come and go, from Pep Guardiola to Jurgen Klopp, and nobody at the club flinches. Nobody but the supporters.
Tuchel would undoubtedly bring some fresh ideas to another staling club in Arsenal, as the man seems to radiate fresh ideas, but it is completely inconsequential. He will be finding a new home soon, almost surely this summer, and it will not be at the Emirates.

On the bright side, internal rifts may lead to a shaking up of things, with Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang possibly seeking exits. While the latter is likely on his way out already, the former has maintained his loyalty.
