The transfer links have begun yet again, and this time it is with Alvaro Morata. Say he does sign with Arsenal, would he be a good fit?

With the 2017 summer transfer window looming, the reports are linking Arsenal to another big name. This link is a big name: Alvaro Morata. After missing out on the Spaniard striker while he was with Juventus, Arsene Wenger is now keen on luring him to the Emirates.

The striker from Real Madrid has put on a great season so far, scoring 19 goals in only 17 starts! It is also crucial to note that Morata isn’t even the number one striker at Real Madrid. That job belongs to the Frenchman Karim Benzema.

Anytime you are linked to a backup striker that is putting up those types of numbers, you must capitalize. Morata would be a great fit for Arsenal and we must chase him strongly, or else he could end up with Chelsea, a team has also been in the conversation.

The reported fee, according to The Sun,  to reel in Morata to the Emirates would be £50 million. That would make Morata the most expensive player to be signed in the club’s history. And he could be well worth it. Let’s take a deeper look in why Morata would be a good fit in an Arsenal jersey.

One reason Morata would be a good fit is a rather simple one: he’s young. For a striker to be 24-years-old and to be producing the fantastic way that he is currently, it surely makes him an intriguing asset as a striker. Compared to our top two strikers in Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, who are 30 and 26-years-old, Morata is all the more interesting. If he does come to the Emirates and produces at a higher level than he is now, he can solve all the striker issues that have plagued the club for a long, long time.

The second reason would be Morata’s mentality. We all know that Morata plays for Real Madrid, a team that have consistently been producing at very high levels almost every single season. This means that Morata would be bringing a winning mentality. This type of mentality is crucial for an Arsenal team that has seemed to struggle in retaining that winning mentality each and every season.

Another reason that makes Morata a good fit is because Arsenal have the ability to offer Morata a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup, assuming he remains healthy. At Real Madrid, Morata is the backup striker to Benzema as stated earlier. He is, though, a player deserving of regular first-team football. That is something that Real Madrid cannot offer to him at the moment, but if he comes to Arsenal, he would have a starting spot right off the bat. He would already become a better option than both Giroud and Welbeck.

Morata would also fit well into the recent 3-4-3 system implemented by Wenger. Playing at the main attacker position would mean he would be alongside both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, assuming both of them remain in North London. That would be a dynamic trio that could cause major problems for opposing defences.

If we can land Morata this summer, he can surely develop into a world-class striker. Either Wenger can bring confidence to the fans with this signing, or Morata would join the massive list of players that Wenger was “close” to signing.
