Arsenal’s young phenom Rob Holding neutralized Diego Costa physically and mentally, and in the process became a legend by uttering two charming words.

We don’t toss around the word ‘legendary’ lightly. Arsenal is a legendary club thanks to a healthy array of legendary players and managers throughout the century, but you can’t just go about tagging people as legends for no reason.

That being said, I don’t see the harm in dubbing someone a potential legend because they did something or somethings that were of the legendary variety.

Rob Holding is who I am speaking of. The young Englishman has become a sensation in North London and even after a first year of limited appearances, he already has the makings of a potential legend.

For starters, he went from Bolton, who were being relegated to League One, to Arsenal and established himself as a first-teamer within a year.

Second of all, he cost a measly £2m, which is made even more minuscule when you consider that John Pebbles cost Manchester City over £50m and tell me truly, who would you rather have at this juncture?

Holding has been en fuego. He has been perfect. This young man is something special, which means that in the next decade, he is only going to get more special.

Against Chelsea in the FA Cup though, we got an even sweeter taste of what is making him so special.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

We had already stared to see a rough-and-tumble side of Holding, as he laid on some thick fouls against Everton. No harm, no foul (well, they were fouls) because that is the kind of thing we love to see. Give me a tough tackling player over a soft defender any day.

Against Chelsea, matched up across from Diego Costa, the ogre himself, Holding was yet again at his best for several reasons. Costa was effectively neutralized, despite his one, soft goal that should have been saved. And, in the midst of everything, fans around the world could read Holding’s lips as he called Costa a “f***ing psycho.”

Does it get any better than that? Holding yanked Costa to the ground, won the mental war, and in the process, called the Spaniard exactly what he is. Meanwhile, Costa could be seen holding the ball and ranting and raving after he was yet again left frustrated.

Anyone who gets the best of Costa is an automatic favorite, and thankfully, that has been happening a lot lately. Shkodran Mustafi completely shut him down in the first meeting of the season before the two clubs and now Holding has one-upped the German by mentally debilitating his opposition.

If Costa moves to China over the summer, Holding can proudly remember that he was the man who put the final blow on the ‘f***ing psycho’ of an ogre before banishing him to the Chinese Super League.
