Arsenal: Alexis Sanchez ‘clarity’ can only mean one thing
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s progress on Alexis Sanchez is going to resume in a few short days but in the mean time, he may have given us some good news.
Arsenal has made what feels like zero progress towards any sort of contract extensions and with it, Alexis Sanchez feels closer to an exit than ever before. While the Emirates provided Alexis the perfect opportunity to proclaim himself among the best in the world, he’s getting a bit antsy. Some may say they can’t blame him. I’m of a different mind.

The Chilean has held to his claim that he will not do anything until after the Confederations Cup, which is pretty damn soon.
He also hasn’t said anything conclusive about his future in that time. However, in talking to the press recently, he was far from reassuring. Farther than he has ever been, in fact.
Alexis was asked if he would be joining his international team mate Claudio Bravo at Manchester City next year. His response, if over-analyzed, would seem to hint that he has at the very least considered it.
Here is what he had to say in full, according to Sky Sports:
"Good question. Right now I’m focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go. I don’t know."
He was then asked if it is clear where he will be playing next year. This answer was a bit more along the lines that we’d want to hear.

“Yes it’s clear but I can’t tell you,” he said.
If it is clear where Alexis will play next year, and he isn’t just blowing smoke, then it would seem that the only possibility is a stay with the Gunners. Since, at this point, it couldn’t be clear that he is going to Manchester City.
Of course, this is all assuming that everything Alexis says is stitched together with the undeniable truth. And that may or may not be the case.
Alexis was then asked if he would stay at Arsenal and he said simply “I do not know.”
Hardly reassuring, like I mentioned, but on the bright side, it wasn’t exactly damning either. The one conclusive piece of information he gave us is that he knows where he will be playing next year. And again, assuming this is the complete and total truth, then he has to be staying.

That said, I will feel a hell of a lot better when he puts my assumption into writing and locks into Arsenal for the rest of his natural born life.
