Arsenal: Jack Wilshere will never see this opportunity again
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal golden boy Jack Wilshere is back in training and believe it or not, the best opportunity of his career may start right this instant.
For so long, the hopes and futures of both Arsenal and the English National team centered on Jack Wilshere. He was the promised child, the man to take the three lions and the Gunners back to glory. But we all know where this story went terribly wrong. Somewhere around the time of his first injury.

Since that time it has been one injury after another with no respite. What small glimpses we have had of his talent have been fantastic but they have been so few and far between that you can’t even begin to speculate what kind of role he can have going forward.
This past year was huge for the Englishman. On loan at Bournemouth, he was blessed with nearly 2000 minutes of Premier League football before he, yet again, broke his leg and returned to Arsenal for treatment.
I don’t think many of us thought we would see Jack Wilshere back on the pitch for Arsenal ever again. It just seemed like we had been down this road too many times and whatever future he was going to have would be found elsewhere.
But then he was spotted in training. Full training. Alongside all of his other team mates looking like a happy little family and it got me thinking that this year, this crucial year, is the greatest, and almost certainly last, opportunity for Wilshere to make it work.

He is only 25 years old still, which is important to remember. But then we also have to look to the open window in this Arsenal team. They have a pretty solid midfield four in the starting XI. But behind those four is a hodgepodge of potential and utility players. No one that can really challenge the incumbents, save maybe Alex Iwobi.
And Jack Wilshere.
With how many competitions the Gunners are in and how experimental they are liable to get in the lesser competitions, we may yet see much more of Wilshere than we ever thought possible.
Which, in turn, could lead to more perceived impossibilities – a prolonged stint, healthy, with consistent appearances and the ability to lead a team, be it the second team or whatever, to a potential trophy like the League Cup.
I don’t know about you but that is a big deal. And a fantastic starting point for someone who desperately needs a restart. And not just that but as of now, no additional transfers have been completed in either position, which could really spring this opportunity of a lifetime for Wilshere to fill the void that Wenger tried to fill with other people.
And if he can’t do it this year? Well then you can bet new signings will be on their way.

I know that we have been here before with Wilshere and something always seems to go wrong. But I’m going to throw some more faith in his ring and see what happens.
