Pressure take a big toll on anyone, especially at a big club like Arsenal, but for Alexandre Lacazette, it’s certainly all downhill from here.

As I am writing this, I am playing “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie in my head because, I don’t care what they say about professionalism and all that, there is pressure on any player at a new club. Arsenal is no exception. If anything, the fact that it is Arsenal adds to the pressure.

Alexandre Lacazette is going to be feeling pressure because this is his first ever competitive fixture for his new club. Preseason is great and all, playing at the Emirates for the first time is there too and the FA Community Shield is no cake walk. But your first match in the toughest division in the world on a team that you are tasked with bring back into the Champions League as well as competing for titles?

He is certainly Under Pressure.

However, that’s the bad news. And it’s not even really that bad. It’s the first step in the next phase of his career. A career that he has been asking for for the past 2-3 years. How many times did he say it was time to move on and dplay at the next level?

More from Pain in the Arsenal

This is the last big pressure cooker. Now, granted, there will be Champions League matches and Derbies and Cup Finals aplenty. But by the time those role around, he will have had months with his new club (hopefully not years) and these new ‘debuts’ per say aren’t anything to worry about.

This is it. After this first ever Premier League match which will hopefully come equipped with a goal, it will be all downhill from here. The pressure will let up, the chemistry will build and before you know it, this will be his new home and he won’t be new at all.

Lacazette figures to start up top for the Gunners, as that is what he did in the Community Shield. To great effect, I may add, as he was integral to that attack and had a huge part to play in the build up and whatever final product was delivered.

Striking the post on a beautiful curler was agonizing, but seeing him able to put a shot like that so close on target is a reminder that he is indeed everything we could have asked for and in time, that price tag will be completely justified.
