Arsenal: Alexandre Lacazette showing logic only dreamed of
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal’s new striker Alexandre Lacazette has made such an impact in so short a time and now he even has the mindset that we have dreamed of.
Arsenal’s fortunes these past few years has been highly criticized, despite the three FA Cup titles they’ve managed to take home. Part of that comes down the the questions surrounding their mindset. Supporters and foes alike wondered how much the Gunners really wanted it.

You could see why they’d ask these questions. Sometimes players showed no sense of urgency and sometimes they’d celebrate excessively for a goal that didn’t mean much in the grand scheme. As if it was such a rarity.
Which just feeds into why Alexandre Lacazette is so perfect for this club. For starters, he scored less than two minutes into his debut. That’s good enough as it is. But you may have noticed that he didn’t exactly celebrate all that much. It was subdued.

And he explained why after the game. In case you missed his explanation, here is what he said, via Arsenal.com:
"“I think it was still too early [to celebrate properly when I scored]. That’s how it came about but I think it was perhaps too early to celebrate because we didn’t know how the match was going to pan out.”"

As in, he didn’t want to celebrate, because he wanted to win. What else can this guy do to endear himself to a weary fan base that has complained about the very thing he avoided doing? Lacazette was all professionalism, completely unselfish and has the mind of someone who wants so much more.
Again, another thing that has been massively questioned about the Gunners in recent years.
This attitude seemed to carry over, because even when Aaron Ramsey scored the 82nd minute equalizer, his celebration was short-lived, as he rushed back to get play moving again. Not that he wouldn’t have done that before, but if nothing else, maybe seeing and hearing Lacazette speak about this has opened our eyes a bit to the hunger this club really has.
Lacazette couldn’t have done any better with his debut. He had a couple of other chances that were either blocked or deflected but both looked to be solid efforts as well and one, the deflected shot, led to Danny Welbeck‘s equalizer before half.

So while he may not have scored two like Romelu Lukaku or added an assist like Alvaro Morata, Lacazette has what we need and when he truly settles in, he will be one of the best in England, if he isn’t already.
