Olivier Giroud continues to prove himself as one of the most Arsenal-centered men in football. Which makes his story on of the utmost interest.

Arsenal front man Olivier Giroud may have been pushed out of the starting position he held uncontested for years, but that doesn’t mean that he will take the easy route and jump ship. In fact, the adamant fashion in which he is hanging around tells a whole different story.

The biggest thing that propels a story of any sort is the anticipation of what is going to happen next. That tension keeps readers/watchers hanging on for what’s to come and without it, they lose interest and tune it out.

That’s what it happening with the Alexis Sanchez saga. That’s what happens with so many players out there. They make it so clear what they are all about that there is no reason to keep watching or to go out of the way to find out what comes next.

Giroud is different. Not only has he had to suffer through an unappreciative fan base since his arrival, he has also been replaced right as the getting was good and there have been offers aplenty to take his talents somewhere else. Other Premier League clubs have been clamoring as well as powers over in Ligue 1.

He does, after all, have an international career to think about.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Yet through it all, Giroud has stayed as true as can be. Through frustrations and injustices, he has always stood by his badge and played with passion and grit even when his minutes dwindled. Now, with Alexandre Lacazette called in to replace him, he has explained his motivation to stay. Here are his words, as quoted by the Metro:

"“There was something in my soul and in my heart which told me to stay. I’ve been hesitating because I’m the most happy man when I play and I am on the pitch. But I keep the faith and I still believe I can have an important part to play this season in the club and I feel good in my head and also physically. So I am 100 per cent focused on the club project. I’ve been through five amazing years here so I felt like the story had to continue.”"

No matter what happens, Giroud will be remembered for the role he has played in these definitive years when a transfer would have meant more playing time or more opportunity. His heroics in massive matches like in FA Cup finals is coming to define who he is along with the dedication he has to the club.
