Arsenal had to elect a player of the month for one of their worst months ever and it went to Sead Kolasinac, who is still acclimating to life in England.

I’m just warning you right now, this is going to get snarky really quick. Never before have I thought that maybe scrapping the Arsenal player of the month is the best idea, but this time around, I feel like Arsene Wenger may be thinking the same thing.

The month of August was not fun. It was horrible. And we should be glad to leave it behind. Yet again this club was not ready at the start of the season and while you can blame literally everyone inside of the organization, one man you can’t blame is Sead Kolasinac.

Because he is your Arsenal player of the month by a whopping 50% of the vote. Alexandre Lacazette got 26% and Petr Cech, by the default of not being an outfield player, got 24%.

This is embarrassing. Mainly for Wenger, who decided it in his best interest to sit the two highest vote getters against Liverpool. Of course, maybe in doing so, he secured their place in the voting, because they couldn’t be blamed for the result.

Here’s the thing with these polls. Fans aren’t organized enough to all vote one way as a joke, or to prove a point. By that standard, you can trust these polls and, by extension, the collective of fans.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Meaning that the Bosnian was so good in his first two matches, two matches where he was played out of position and only one of which that he started, that fans saw fit to say that he had, by a landslide, been our best player.

I wish there was some way we could get Wenger’s take on this because I’m sure he would just add more to the ‘he’s still acclimating’ belief, which is just so tiresome.

Kolasinac was unjustly benched going into the season. He was unjustly forced to play center back in the second match and he was unjustly benched for the third match, yet every single minute he played, fans saw what they’ve been dying to see – a 100% effort, no-nonsense tank who deserves room to roam.

I would like to think that Wenger has learned his lesson. And that the Bosnian will be at left wingback against Bournemouth. Because if not, than I just don’t know what else to say. Keep benching him and he will probably win it in September too.
