Arsenal: Hector Bellerin’s point too logical to be taken seriously
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal won against Bournemouth, but you wouldn’t know it from the inflammatory headlines. Hence, while Hector Bellerin has a point, it doesn’t matter.
We should have seen it coming. Arsenal conclusively beat Bournemouth, showing little to no weakness, and rather than the media being complimentary of their composure, they are back to Bashing the Gunners.

“This is just covering the cracks, they are one match from a meltdown.”
“They’ll never win the title, it was only Bournemouth.”
“Danny Welbeck is garbage” (paraphrasing Garth Crooks).
It’s pathetic really. Here we’ve been held down by Arsene Wenger‘s team selection and we finally get everyone in place against Bournemouth, we win with weapons that no one appreciated and it’s like we’ve dropped into relegation zone.
Hector Bellerin has had his say on the matter too, in what has to be the most refreshing statement from anyone since the season started. Take it away, Hector (via IBT Times UK):
"Look at how Chelsea began last season and how they ended up winning the title. It doesn’t only matter how you start but to be consistent. Check the Chelsea results at the beginning of last season. They had a difficult time too, they lost two games and won several games in the last minutes (against West Ham and Watford). Then, they won 13 consecutive games and eventually won the Premier League. Manchester City, however, started very well and then faded out. The important thing is to be consistent throughout the season. We have had two bad games but we now have six points and we have to look forward."
This is so incredibly sensible, well-thought out and encouraging. Bellerin knows what he is talking about, he knows the quality this team has and he knows how early it is in the season. There is absolutely no denying what he’s said.
Arsenal are not out of the Premier League title race and you are not crazy if, like me, you think they can still win it all.

The problem is that what Bellerin has said is so logical and so sensible that it will never be taken seriously by any of the talking heads out there that make a living telling us how Arsenal are a bogus team that will be lucky to finish seventh, especially as the only striker they have is Danny Welbeck (Garth Crooks, ladies and gentlemen).
We’ve heard our players speak up before with the same type of subdued optimism, so it does take a special kind of person to get on board with what Bellerin has said. But at the same time, it shouldn’t be.
Chelsea came back from a mid-table season to win the league. A lot of people would say one of the biggest contributing factors was the lack of Champions League. they didn’t have to contend with midweek games sapping the life out of their best players.
And the year before that? An upstart Leicester City that had no Champions League and who no one thought would win the title.

Arsenal have no Champions League and no one expects them in the top four. But Bellerin is right, given the right string of form, they absolutely, positive can win the league. Even if no one else wants to accept it.
