It’s hard to believe that Alexis Sancez has yet to play with Alexandre Lacazette, but with Welbeck’s latest injury, it opens the door for Arsenal.

Speculations of Alexis Sanchez leaving Arsenal in the summer allowed Danny Welbeck to take the Chilean’s position alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil. Which turned out rather poorly for an injured Alexis, because the athletic Englishman found his form.

Welbeck has started every game in the Premier League this season, scoring three goals and assisting one in five appearances. With Welbeck in fantastic form, Alexis has had to play from the bench and in the secondary competitions.

Fans have had the pleasure of seeing record signing Alexandre Lacazette link up with Mesut Ozil. Although Lacazette who signed on the 5th of July, has somehow yet to play a single minute with Alexis.

Alexis has formed a reputable partnership with Ozil over the years, managing to score 73 times in 147 appearances in all competitions. But the Gunners have yet to see Alexis play as a part of a front three with Ozil and Lacazette.

Maybe the trio’s partnership will finally kick start the Gunner’s title challenge. They are six points from the top of the table and have had a rough start to the season, which includes suffering two huge losses, with one being a horrible 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

With Ozil able to assist Lacazette and Alexis, this attack would absolutely not be shy of goals. All of the players within that trio have the ability to not only score goals, but assist one another as well.

With Welbeck’s injury lasting a minimum of three weeks, the Alexis, Lacazette and Ozil triumvirate might have to wait. Ozil did not feature against Chelsea due to a knee inflammation and has only recently returned to training.

Hopefully, fans will get to see ALexis play alongside Lacazette for the first time in Arsenal’s next game against West Brom at the Emirates. Maybe, at least, we will get a taste of how the players can link up and how they can play off each other.

Fans will undoubtedly hope the partnership between the three can tempt Alexis and Ozil into signing new contracts with the club.
