Arsenal witnessed another stalwart performance from Sead Kolasinac, making it clear that he may be the best thing since Patrick Vieira.

You can’t always expect to see the best out of every single player. Even Arsenal’s legends had their off days. And yet, thus far into Sead Kolasinac‘s North London career, he has yet to put in a poor performance so long as he is playing as that left wing back.

There are certain truths I think more and more people are picking up on regarding the Bosnian. First of all, this is just who he is. That wrecking ball that is flattening opposing players and bulldozing into the box is who he is as a player. That’s who he was at FC Schalke and that’s who he will continue to be.

We also saw another added benefit to Kolasinac today. When Alexandre Lacazette was tackled to the ground, the Bosnian Hulk took the liberty of escorting the West Brom player who came away with possession to the ground as well.

Which is what makes me confident in making this claim that Kolasinac may well be the best thing to happen to Arsenal since Patrick Vieira.

I can hear the grunts and moans already. Last time the Vieira name was invoked, it was in reference to Granit Xhaka, who was nothing like Vieira. Totally different players other than the position that they played.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Kolasinac is a totally different position too, obviously, but the spark, energy and, to use the same term again, wrecking ball mentality that we have seen him utilize, that is what makes me so confident in making this claim.

Kolasinac won’t be pushed around. He won’t let his team mates be pushed around, he won’t sit by and let the team get bullied by anyone. That is what Vieira was like. Always igniting something with his tenacity on the pitch.

It’s not even like Kolasinac was the greatest performer out there against West Brom. But that’s not the point. The point is that even when he isn’t the most influential player, he is still doing his job, he is certainly not hurting the team and he is everything he has been in matches past.

It’s what they call consistency, and for the Gunners, having a consistent player after years of having to suffer through the inconsistencies of too many players to name, I can’t think of a better thing to happen to the club.
